Privacy Policy
Kopa Bear, LLC, a Washington limited liability company, doing business as Call the Claus. Effective October 5, 2026.
The short version. Call the Claus is a phone call with an AI Santa. A parent sets it up, decides exactly what Santa knows, and can delete everything in one tap. We never record calls, never keep transcripts, and never use anything about your family to train AI. We built the whole service so there is as little to protect as possible.
The long version is below, and it is the one that counts.
1. Who we are, and what this is
Call the Claus is operated by Kopa Bear, LLC, a Washington State limited liability company (“we,” “us”). You can reach us at privacy@calltheclaus.com.
Santa is an artificial intelligence. When your child calls, they are talking with a computer program that listens, decides what to say using a large language model, and speaks in a synthetic voice. There is no human on the line. We say this plainly to you, the parent, because you deserve to know exactly what your child is talking to. We do not say it to children on the call, because that is the magic you are choosing to give them.
We spent a great deal of care on the rules Santa follows. Section 8 describes them. They are not perfect, because no AI is, and Section 9 explains what we do about that.
2. What we collect, and why
We collect only what the service needs to work. Here is the complete list.
- Your account. When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, and Google account ID. We use them to identify your account and to contact you about the service. We do not post anything to Google or read anything else from it.
- Phone numbers you verify. Up to three per family. We text a one-time code to prove the phone is yours. Santa only answers calls from verified numbers, so this is how he knows which family is calling.
- What you tell Santa about your kids. A first name is required. Everything else is optional: how the name is pronounced, an age, things they love, something you are proud of, and what they are hoping for. You write it, you can change it, and you can leave all of it blank. We ask you not to include last names, addresses, schools, birthdays, or anything else that identifies your child, and the form blocks phone numbers, email addresses, and links.
- Call records. For each call: when it started, how long it lasted, which verified number called, the outcome (for example answered, or turned away because the number was not verified), and the reference IDs our phone and voice providers assign to the call. We use this to count minutes, to spot problems, and to protect the service from abuse. We do not record the audio and we do not keep a transcript of what was said.
- Payments. If you buy minutes, our payment processor (Stripe) handles your card. We never see or store your card number. We keep a record of what you bought and when.
- Technical logs. Errors and basic operational events, so we can keep the service working. These can include a phone number or account ID when an error relates to a specific call or account.
We do not use advertising trackers, analytics cookies, or any third-party marketing pixels. The only cookie we set keeps you signed in.
3. What we never collect or keep
- No audio recordings of any call, ever, on any system we control or configure.
- No transcripts, summaries, or notes of what a child or anyone else said on a call.
- No voiceprints or other biometric identifiers.
- No children’s last names, addresses, schools, photos, or birthdays. We do not ask, and Santa is instructed never to ask.
- No information from children directly. Children do not create accounts, fill out forms, or give us anything other than the live sound of their voice during a call, which is processed in the moment and not stored.
- No data for advertising, and nothing is ever sold or rented to anyone.
4. How a call actually works
Being specific here matters, so here is the path your child’s voice takes.
- Twilio carries the phone call. When a call arrives, our server checks whether the number is verified. If it is not, a pre-recorded elf message plays and the call ends; nothing else happens and no AI is involved.
- ElevenLabs provides the live voice. It turns your child’s speech into text, sends that text to a language model, and speaks the reply in Santa’s voice, all in real time. We have configured our ElevenLabs account to not retain audio and to not retain transcripts, and to delete any personal information from conversation records.
- Anthropic’s Claude is the language model that decides what Santa says. It receives the words spoken on the call and the notes you wrote about your kids, and returns Santa’s next line. It is accessed through ElevenLabs under commercial terms that do not permit using this data to train models.
- When the call ends, Twilio tells our server how long it lasted. That number, and nothing about the content, is what we keep.
In plain terms: the content of a call exists only for the seconds it takes to process each sentence, inside systems configured not to keep it. Once the call ends, what was said is gone.
5. Children’s privacy
Call the Claus is a service for parents and legal guardians. Adults create the account, verify the phones, and decide what Santa is told. Children never interact with our website or forms.
The only thing we receive from a child is the sound of their voice during a call, which is processed in real time to generate Santa’s replies and is not stored, as described in Section 4. We do not knowingly collect any other personal information from a child under 13, and we do not use a child’s voice or words for any purpose other than running that call.
By creating an account and verifying a phone, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of the children who will call, that you consent to their participation, and that you are the one providing any information about them. You can see everything we hold about your family on your dashboard at any time, change it, or delete it. If you believe we have information about a child that we should not have, email privacy@calltheclaus.com and we will delete it promptly.
6. How we use and share information
We use your information for exactly four things: running the calls, counting your minutes, supporting you when something goes wrong, and keeping the service safe from abuse.
We share information only with the service providers that run the product, each of which may only use it to provide their service to us:
- Supabase hosts our database (United States).
- Vercel hosts our website and servers.
- Twilio carries phone calls and sends verification texts.
- ElevenLabs provides the real-time voice and runs the conversation, with retention disabled.
- Anthropic provides the language model, accessed through ElevenLabs.
- Google provides sign-in.
- Stripe processes payments.
We will disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of a child or anyone else. Because we keep no recordings or transcripts, there is no record of what was said on a call for anyone to request, including us.
We never sell personal information, never share it for advertising, and never use it to train AI models or permit anyone else to.
7. How long we keep it
- Account, phones, and kids’ notes: until you delete them. The dashboard has a one-tap “delete my account” that removes your account, phones, kids, and call records immediately and permanently.
- Call records: deleted with your account. Otherwise kept for the season for minute counting and fraud prevention.
- Technical logs: 90 days.
- Payment records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, held by Stripe and in our purchase records.
- Inactive accounts: deleted after 12 months without a sign-in or a call.
8. The guardrails Santa follows
This is a privacy policy, but what Santa is allowed to say is part of protecting your child, so here it is in full. Santa is instructed to:
- Use only the first names and notes you provided, and never ask for a last name, address, school, birthday, or who lives at home. If a child offers that information, Santa does not repeat it and moves on.
- Never promise that a specific gift will arrive. Parents decide what is under the tree.
- Never discuss religion, politics, violence, scary topics, world events, or anything adult.
- Never give advice about health, family trouble, money, school problems, or anything serious. Santa is not a counselor or an authority.
- If a child says they are hurt, scared, or unsafe: say once, warmly, that a trusted grown-up should help with that, ask no questions, give no advice, judge no one, and then gently return the conversation to Christmas. Santa does not hang up on a child, and we do not notify anyone, because we hold no record of the conversation and because the adult at home is not always the right person to tell.
- Answer simple, wholesome curiosity questions, and decline anything that is a task (recipes, homework, essays) or outside Santa’s world.
- Never explain a swear word, repeat it, or scold a child for it.
- Stay in character if asked whether he is real, and never claim to be a computer or an AI to a child.
- End a call early only when someone is deliberately using explicit, hateful, or manipulative language after repeated redirection, and even then with a warm goodbye.
Calls have a time limit set by your remaining minutes, and Santa says goodbye before it runs out.
9. Honest limits of an AI
Santa can make mistakes. He may mispronounce a name, misunderstand a sentence, give a fact slightly wrong, or respond in a way that misses the mark. The guardrails above reduce this and we test them deliberately, but no AI system follows instructions perfectly every time. We recommend that a parent be present or nearby during calls, especially the first one, and that you treat Santa as entertainment, not as a source of advice or information.
If a call ever goes somewhere it should not, tell us at support@calltheclaus.com. We cannot review a recording, because there is none, but we can and do adjust Santa’s rules in response to what parents report.
10. Security
All traffic is encrypted in transit. Your family’s data is protected by database-level access rules so that each parent can see only their own family, and the credentials that can read across families never leave our servers. Phone numbers must be proven by a text code before Santa will answer them. We keep the amount of stored data deliberately small, which is the strongest security measure there is.
11. Your rights and choices
- See and change everything about your family on the dashboard.
- Delete everything in one tap on the dashboard, or by emailing us.
- Remove a phone at any time; Santa stops answering it immediately.
- Ask us what we hold about you, and we will tell you. There is nothing beyond what Section 2 lists.
We do not sell personal information and have not in the past. Residents of Washington, California, and other states with privacy laws have the rights above, and we honor them for everyone regardless of where you live. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising them.
12. Changes and contact
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will post the new version here with a new effective date and, for anything material, email the address on your account before it takes effect. Questions, requests, or concerns: privacy@calltheclaus.com.
